The "Werdenfelser Land", also known as the "Golden Country",
is the beautiful alpine and pre-alpine area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Ettal,
Oberammergau, Murnau and Mittenwald, in front of the overwhelming scenery of the
"Karwendel" and "Wetterstein" mountains. Internationally well known are the
"Zugspitze" (alt. 2.964 m) and the "Alpspitze" (alt. 2.628 m).
